FAQ

+WHAT IS PLASMA SKIN TIGHTENING?

Plasma Skin Tightening / Plasma Pen Treatment is the only cosmetic treatment to use plasma to eliminate excess skin. It is known for it's success with Non Surgical Eye lift, Scar Lifting Treatments, Wrinkle reduction, Tummy tightening and so much more.

The term “soft surgery” is often used to describe the treatment because it delivers results similar to surgery without a scalpel, stitch or bandage and minimal downtime.  It is a minimally invasive procedure with a much lower risk and at a more affordable price then actual surgery.

Plasma Skin Tightening is a relatively new innovation in the beauty industry in North America but has been used for a number of years in Europe. The extremely accurate device works by utilizing the voltage in the air between its metal tip and the skin, to form a plasma charge. An electrical arc is created and instantly shrinks the targeted skin. The tissue retraction and tightening gives results that are comparable to invasive surgery by physically reducing the volume of skin in the surrounding area.

+WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?

  • Eyelids-  and excess upper eyelid skin.

  • Under eye

  • Crows feet

  • Sunspots, Age spots and skin tags (Dr. note required)

  • Tightening loose stomach skin after pregnancy

  • Lines and wrinkles around the mouth

  • Face lift and neck lift

+HOW LONG DOES PLASMA SKIN TIGHTENING LAST?

As Plasma Skin Tightening is more than a simple tightening treatment, skin is actually removed, so the effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of Plasma treatment are not entirely permanent as it does not stop any further ageing.  The positive results can last your client years, depending on the area treated.

The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the best results will be seen by the 8-12th week as the skin has had time to go through a full regenerative cycle. Times may vary depending on the clients age.

For some, an additional treatment may be required after 8 - 12 weeks for maximum results. Additionally, there are lifestyle factors that can prevent the result from lasting as long as they can, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and prolonged sun exposure.

Those planning on treatment should also be aware that their race and genetics can also have an effect of the length of beneficial effects.

** Treating muscle related wrinkles will not have the same lasting power as removing excess skin.  Due to the repetitive movements of the muscles (forehead and smile lines) The results are not expected to last as long as areas like the upper eyelid or tummy tightening. We suggest following up treatment with Botox to freeze the muscles and prevent them from creating the wrinkle **

You should be in good health a the time of the appointment, with no symptoms of cold or flu.

You should not be inflamed in the area that is being treated prior to procedure.

You are not an ideal candidate if you are prone to keloid scars.

If you have healing disorders, diabetes, or lymphatic drainage issues you are not an ideal candidate.

You should not have a sunburn or tan at the time of the procedure.

If you have a history of hyper pigmentation, you are not an ideal candidate.

You should discontinue any AHA products 4 weeks prior to procedure.

If you have a pacemaker, pregnant, or breastfeeding, you are not an ideal candidate.

Your eyelids cannot be treated with eye lash extensions. Eye lash extensions must be removed prior to procedure.

Plasma skin tightening is best performed on Fitzpatrick scales 1-3. If you are a 4/5, you are at risk for hyper pigmentation and not an ideal candidate.

+WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?

The downtime is minimal. The 'carbon crust' will fall off anywhere between 5-10 days. There may be some swelling, especially when treating the eye area. This usually subsides by the 2nd day.

+HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of treatments you will need depends on the individual and the area that is being treated. In some cases, the technician will know that you will benefit from a second treatment. Other times, assessing the treatment at 8-12 weeks will best let the technician know if another treatment needs to be performed. All second sessions are half price.
